Tired of getting misled by advertising, disappointment after disappointment mainly due to selecting the lowest cost trip, we receive many inquiries each season telling us of the bad experiences they had to such areas. Most of their trips selected were due to pricing. Why pay more when you are misled to assume you can get the same for less? was the reason given for most disappointments. There is no way you can get the trip of a lifetime for minimum costs. When you select a higher but reasonable cost, you can expect to receive a good to excellent value for your dollar. Separation Lake is located 46 miles north of Kenora in Northwestern Ontarios Sunset country. Our camp rests in the heart of the famous English Rivers largest and most productive concentration of Walleye, Northern Pike, and Smallmouth Bass. Our isolated, well managed section comprises of enormous amounts of habitat, food and sanctuary, marshes, tributaries, variable water depths, narrowed down areas which provides a rapids type flowage for shallow fishing throughout the summer season. This lower portion of the English River has only Ontario lodge and the only drive to access, controlled and owned by Separation Lake lodge, thereby eliminating over fishing and providing the ultimate Ontario wilderness trip of a lifetime at the very best value available.
All of our guests, plus the locals, say the west portion of the English River System, preferably Separation Lake in Ontario, is the best camp and fishery they have found.
At Separation Lake the fishing is not sporadic. Its very good to excellent during the entire season - May 15th to Oct. 1st. We are not bragging: this statement is factual or we would not say it. This is a fantastic fishery, loaded with walleye, northern and bass. And, the scenery is fantastic.
We fish shallow, 5 to 15 feet 99 percent of the season. Our water system has enough under current and weedy oxygen filled bays to maintain shallow water fishing even through July and August, when other fisheries seem to completely shut down or have to fish 60 or 80 feet deep.
Separation boasts of its excellent Ontario fishing waters. The lake has produced many 10 pound plus trophy walleye and one of our guests took a Field Stream prize with his 35 pound trophy northern pike, the largest being 42 pound monster northern pike in 1986. The smallmouth bass fishing is among the best to be found many wall hangers are caught each year.
The Ontario hunting is excellent for mallard, blue bill, golden eye, wood duck, teal and Canada geese, we also have a good ruffled grouse population.
We are the only Ontario hunting camp hunting moose in this area, thereby offering you excellent trophy moose racks. Our season opens in mid-September, at the peak of our rutting season.
Separation Lake offers both archery and rifle bear hunts from tree stands over pre-baited working baits. We have a lot of mature trophy bear in our special Ontario leased hunting areas.
